We are a family owned kennel located in McBain, Michigan. We take pride in finding perfect homes for each and every one of our puppies. All of our puppies come with AKC registration, 1 year health guarantee, 2 year hip and elbow guarantee, microchipped, up-to-date on vaccines and dewormer, examined by a licensed veterinarian prior to leaving, a puppy care package, and lifetime breeder support. We are always here to answer any questions that may arise with your new pup and LOVE to see update pictures! All our puppies are raised on both Puppy Culture and BB curriculum with ESI and ENS training starting at 3 days old!
Our dogs love running loose on our 50 acres of wooded and open land, going down to the river/lake, and love to go trail riding with us while we ride horses. Our dogs do not stay in kennels all day. We have fenced in, open pens where they get to play and be a dog with the other dogs! At night time, we bring all the dogs into our heated kennel where each dog has their own individual inside/outside dog runs. They have their own beds, toys, food/water. In the morning, we turn all of them back out to the outside play pens! Our dogs have everyday family interaction between us and our children!
Our breeding program focuses on West German Showline German Shepherds that are black and red and solid black in color. All of our dogs and puppies are family raised with children and are socialized around people and ranch animals. We only breed low to mild drive adults as this part of our focus in the puppies we produce. We strive to produce well-rounded, sound temperament, confident, self-assured, loving family dogs.

meet the Breeders
I’m Jessica Hughston, the face behind Hughston German Shepherds, if you send us a message, call, text, or email, I’m the gal you talk to! I'm a 3rd generation German Shepherd breeder and fell in love with the breed when I was born! My husband is Myles Hughston and we have two beautiful children, Mila-Rose and Denton. I could not do any of this without Myles, we are definitely a team!
Myles and I met through the rodeo world. He competed in saddle bronc and I barrel race. We got married in 2017 and that’s when our German Shepherd breeding program began!
We absolutely love that we can run this business with our two kiddos, who can frequently be found in whelping boxes or puppy play pens. All of our adult shepherds love our kids and love playing with them! You can rest assure knowing your puppy has been raised around the family environment.

We are a current Bred with H.E.A.R.T. Breeder with the American Kennel Club. We are always looking to better the German Shepherd bred and to learn as much as we can about every process.

Accomplishments
When we import new adults from Europe to add to our breeding program, we look for those who have noteworthy pedigrees as well as show ratings from competing. We want well rounded adults that have workability but also an off switch to be amazing family dogs!
